I am so happy to share this news that : "Island" has been selected as only film represented China to participate MIFA Annecy animation festival.

"MIFA animation du monde" is a new program in Annecy. Each year, Annecy will select several project which still in the early concept or pre-production stage to be pitched in front of producers and distributors all around world in MIFA session. And through the pitching, to gain attention for world's animation market buyers... For animation in less developed countries, Annecy have one special spot reserved for each country . This year China has been added to the list of MIFA animation du monde. Ten projects has been selected by Chinese animation committee ,but only one will be attending the MIFA in France. Island as one of the ten finalist , last week, I flew back to China to participate a 3 day workshop hosted by France and China animation forum in Shanghai. The workshop has invited guests from Goblens animation school, Folimage animation studio and Head of MIFA program in Annecy animation festival . The guests from workshop are also the final judges .It is a really good opportunity and platform to communicate and to learn.

I think I not only learn from three French guests , but also learn a lot from my peers about the current animation industry in China . There are exhibition of concept art and character design from Folimage studio and Goblins students. And also all the winning short animation from previous Annecy festival. The lady from Folimage also show us a lot of fantastic trailers produced in Folimage, and the pitching pdf for most recent animation project selected in their residency program.

I feel very lucky to be selected, it is a fruitful journey . Can't wait to start my trip to Annecy this coming June ! All my peer competitor's project are great. Because of so many great animations , they actually adding one spot to come to Annecy with free five days pass and accommodation. I really enjoyed seeing others film and also so proud that Chinese animation is getting better and better , drawing world's attention .

I was always behind updating news until something already pass for few month. anyway, earlier this year I participated an exhibition held by Light grey art Lab gallery, It is a very nice little gallery just few steps away from MCAD. the theme of the show is BOWER BIRD. Artist will be drawing their favorite collection.and it is during the Christmas and new year season, so as bonus, every participated artist will receive a package of 90 postcards of other artist's work.    during that time, I was back home in China, So I got a chance to sorted out all kinds of strange collections from my childhood . I found a big box of candy wrappers that  include some of candy that you can no longer purchase at the market now.  

and I use those beautiful candy wrappers make a collage art work

I am so happy to announce that I am the recipient of 2016 MN Film and Video and digital production grant program. Thank so much for Jerome, I thought I will never be able to produce my next independent animation ever after I graduate. However, Jerome foundation give me this opportunity to be indie and get paid by my time and work. I will be able to focus on personal stuff without worrying about money issue. Already start my production for my next film The island .here are some photo to share, hopefully I will finish and put trailer up to this site by the end of summer.
